Hi everybody! What a bizarro holiday break this was.
You all know about the divorce being final and legal.
Thanksgiving was fun for me. I made the bird and all that goes with it. X ( formerly StbX) and all three of my boys were here. I spent most of mine in my room talking to the deer hunter between our separate family events.
Friday was the day I got my divorce pushed through. It was nerve-wracking at best. When I went to pay the cashier, there were extra fees... of course! So I dumped my purse out on the counter and between all my folding money and all the nickles, dimes and quarters just covered it by the fuzz in the bottom of my purse. Phew!
Then I raced home to yak at the deer hunter some more... until it was time to go to meet Frog D. Heavy sigh. What can I say... pult...zing... splat! It did not take me five minutes to determine that this would never work out. But I stayed and gave it a fair shot. He did bring me roses... that does not happen often in my life. Our ideas and politics are on opposite ends of the universe. My mind did not change an iota. One less frog in the pond. I did thank him for the nice diner and flowers. I felt a bit bad, but it just was not there.
On Saturday I was talking to the deer hunter about gut feelings. (Yes, these guys know about each other. ) Since I wasn't going to be busy, I was invited over to celebrate the divorce. He was a big help to me on legal issues involved. Promised to fill my gas tank if I could get there. Deal!
So off I went.
Had a great time I might add... I met his daughter and best friend. Nice people. Drove home pretty darned happy thinking about all the things I need to do to get my name changed everywhere. Feels good to be free.
Once home I did laundry. Remembered that I had forgotten to eat again... you have no idea how much that pleases me. So I ate a turkey sandwich. I had 127 emails. I deleted most and answered the rest. Here I sit now. I am tired from the drive, which was well worth it. I am happy. I wonder what my work week will be like. I'm looking at a short week. Big grin! At the end of it... I'll be back down south for the big game.
Life's looking fine.
Between now and then... who knows. The frogs have increased by two more. Not sure what to do about this... but they thin and then thicken... and thin again. Its interesting.

FLOGGING MOLLY CONCERT
This was the best concert that I have been to in forever. They sound as good in person as they do on recordings. I chose this video so that you could see them perform as they are. I'll have another for you at the end. Both of these songs were performed.
Max and Blu and I went. We did my usual deal... got a map quest that sent us the wrong way and got lost. (You know the drill by now.) But we did at least make it in time.
But we found our way at last and got parked close enough for comfort. None of us have been to this theater. The set up was great. The bar and over 21 section was upstairs in the balcony. The general area was the lower floor... no seats at that level. Max forgot his ID, so he was banned from the bar and restricted to the lower level.
Blu and I were naturally sympathetic and looked down on him from the balcony as I drank my dark beer and she drank her mai tai. Don't worry... I was the driver, so I was limited to one beer. Once our drinks were done, we headed back down to Max... and could not find him.
I've no idea what the name of the first act was. I missed that part. They were okay. Interesting. They were followed by a great raggae group called Hepcat. See them here:
They were a lot of fun!
Then it was time for Flogging Molly. I was about half way to the stage. As soon as they began to play... the crowd surged forward and I got swept into the mosh area. I am not a mosh person. I was totally separated from Blu and moving toward the stage. About that time I start to see people being flung aside. Max scooped me up and hauled me back to the safe place by Blu. He mussed up my hair and then vanished back into the mosh area. I should have known that's where he would be.
The music was great. People moved like the ocean... swaying and bobbing, cresting and crashing. Very exciting and fun for me. They encourage, even demand that you sing along and dance. So I did.
As usual, when it was time to go home I found my way easily. No more getting lost for the night. I had a wonderful time.
It was a great evening. I had a blast. It's late and I need to get some sleep so that I can make sane choices at work tomorrow. Sweet dreams to all.

CONGRATULATIONS MIKEY !
I hope you enjoy the silly bit above. I chose it for a specific purpose. It's for Mikey, my grandson's daddy. He has fought a great battle and come out the victor. We know it was hard. We watched him struggle. But once he made up his mind, it was done. Happy 3rd year anniversary of your sobriety Mikey!
I don't often talk about Micheal. He was such a different person than he is now when we first met him. Frankly, we thought that the Bear had lost her freaking mind! That is the truth. Now we feel very differently indeed.
I consider him my son. We are all very proud of him and how hard he has worked to turn his life around. Proud of how successful he has been. He is a great dad, our Mikey, and that's saying a lot coming from me. It's not a compliment that I give away easily. He has been good to my daughter, which earns him extra hugs. (We know that the Bear can be very scary!)
He is a hard worker, building his own business has not always been easy, but he has stuck with it. Mostly we are awfully glad that he came to be part of our family. Our lives are better for it.
Much love and respect Michael... you deserve it! And hey... watch out for Bear and her nosey-blowseys! Yikes.
A bit of Flogging Molly for ya' Mikey!
Put to Dr. Who clips!

HERE'S TO....

The second concert actually happens first on Sept. 15th... also in P'land. That's yes, you guessed it by the video... Flogging Molly, who you have experience here before if you were interested enough to do the video. I love both bands... but Flogging Molly happens here fairly often. The Pogues do not. This is a huge treat for me.
I must say, my life has been sitting in a cultural vacuum. My town has some wonderful points. I find it very easy to hide here and be the hermit that I have become. But that's self-defense.
I grew up going to plays and to museums in San Francisco or in L.A. There were lots of concerts in my world. Zoos. The art world and beaches of Carmel and Monterey. Summers in L.A. or Santa Cruz. There were things to see and experience and learn. I miss that so much!
I suppose one could argue that The Pogues and Flogging Molly are not exactly the pillars of culture. Phooey! For once I have something to do! It's not a pot luck. It's not a church function. It's not the class given by the local extension office. It's not work related and I do not have to be responsible for everyone's kids. Yay! Food for my brain and my soul.
Today I am grateful... big time. So here's to starting up a friendship with the curious gas bitch! Here's to hearing from friends! Here's to having something to look forward to doing! Here's to having some sort of life! (It's about fucking time.)
Oh... and here's to Dude... and "knowing he's out there takin' her easy for all us sinners".
Big grins, folks. Thanks for coming by... and HI ALL YOU LURKERS!
Sorry there's no video. This had the best sound. The words matter to me. ;)
