YOU CAN HAVE MY HUSBAND

I had to use this one! Gave me a great giggle under my particular circumstance with the frog pond and new divorce.

"WELL, MY MAN HE'S LITTLE
AND HE LOOKS LIKE A FROG
BUT WHEN HE STARTS TO LOVE ME
I HOLLER, OOH, HOT DOG"

New Years Eve was fun. Mostly spent watching other football games and getting revved up for the Rose Bowl. Good company and happy spirits. I may have tipped my elbow a bit too much... but hey, it comes once a year. I was not alone and no one drove anywhere. It was a hoot.

Well... the Ducks lost to the Buckeyes... congratulations Buckeyes! It was a good game. The Ducks played well enough to have earned those Rose Bowl rings... and are still #1 in the Pack Ten. I'm proud of them. I had a lot of fun watching all the Duck fans who made the trek in the stands. Mosuli and others will be there next year... there is always next year.

Saturday was actually the best day on my visit to DH's. I'm going to tell you about that over the course of three posts. Yeah... 3 posts worth of information and photos. Imagine that! We managed to pack quite a bit into the waking hours of that day. Fun stuffs! DH has a wonderful Stevie Ray Vaughan collection. All the CDs and a bunch of DVD of performances. We spent a lot of time watching those. I've put another Stevie Ray Vaughan clip at the bottom for you. But that was our evening fun... I'll start telling you about our earlier in the day tomorrow.

For now, I am a bit exhausted. My car was not up to snuff... so I got a brain storm and took the bus. Cost about as much as gas one way for a car. Should have thought of that sooner! The trip down was a breeze! Less than two hours on the bus and only one stop inbetween. Zap... I was there!

Unfortunately the trip back was more of a fowl wind. Weird-os like me, as I have pointed out before... and sure enough, one found me. This old guy reeked like road kill. YIKES. And he spit when he talked... which was almost non-stop, though to be fair, he was just talking in general, not really to me. Babble babble. You can't have everything. Of course not stopping at every possible town between would have been nice. My return took over 4 hours.

I was never happier to see my oldest in my life. Save me! Take me home! He did. Tomorrow its back to the grind at work. But I return refreshed and happy. I had a lot of fun at the end of my vacation and thats the way it should be... weird-o aside.

How did your New Years go? Did you do anything special or fun?

Now for that other video I promised... Stevie Ray Vaughan and his big brother Jimmy Vaughan of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Woot! Yes... they are both playing the same guitar at the same time. How fun is that? You might want to give it time to load first by pausing it until it finishes loading.

Flogging Molly - Black Friday Rule (c)

Hi everybody! What a bizarro holiday break this was.
You all know about the divorce being final and legal.

Thanksgiving was fun for me. I made the bird and all that goes with it. X ( formerly StbX) and all three of my boys were here. I spent most of mine in my room talking to the deer hunter between our separate family events.

Friday was the day I got my divorce pushed through. It was nerve-wracking at best. When I went to pay the cashier, there were extra fees... of course! So I dumped my purse out on the counter and between all my folding money and all the nickles, dimes and quarters just covered it by the fuzz in the bottom of my purse. Phew!

Then I raced home to yak at the deer hunter some more... until it was time to go to meet Frog D. Heavy sigh. What can I say... pult...zing... splat! It did not take me five minutes to determine that this would never work out. But I stayed and gave it a fair shot. He did bring me roses... that does not happen often in my life. Our ideas and politics are on opposite ends of the universe. My mind did not change an iota. One less frog in the pond. I did thank him for the nice diner and flowers. I felt a bit bad, but it just was not there.

On Saturday I was talking to the deer hunter about gut feelings. (Yes, these guys know about each other. ) Since I wasn't going to be busy, I was invited over to celebrate the divorce. He was a big help to me on legal issues involved. Promised to fill my gas tank if I could get there. Deal!

So off I went.
Had a great time I might add... I met his daughter and best friend. Nice people. Drove home pretty darned happy thinking about all the things I need to do to get my name changed everywhere. Feels good to be free.

Once home I did laundry. Remembered that I had forgotten to eat again... you have no idea how much that pleases me. So I ate a turkey sandwich. I had 127 emails. I deleted most and answered the rest. Here I sit now. I am tired from the drive, which was well worth it. I am happy. I wonder what my work week will be like. I'm looking at a short week. Big grin! At the end of it... I'll be back down south for the big game.

Life's looking fine.

Between now and then... who knows. The frogs have increased by two more. Not sure what to do about this... but they thin and then thicken... and thin again. Its interesting.

HOT DOG! AND I DON'T MEAN WEENIES...

This is Harper Simon... Paul Simon's son. Yep. A music god sent me the studio version of this song on Friday and I feel in love with it immediately. I had to have the album... and you folk get to hear this version. Its not quite as good as the studio one, but that is how live goes.

What an absolutely fantastic day. The music god who brought me the first song... sent me a second one.

The Ducks beat the tar out of USC! Whoot! It's funny... I grew up in a USC household, it's my dad's Alma mater. It was strange to root against them. But hey... those Ducks kicked Trojan butt like you would not believe. An awesome game. They are in about 4th place now in the top 10... if you can believe the sports guys on TV who talk after the game. I figure they know more than I do, so I'll take their happy word for it.

Frog pond news. My favorite frog is still hunting but communicating in the evenings. Tomorrow is the last day for deer hunting. Communication was short because of the game.... but that was a fun factor. Allow me to explain...

Okay, so I figured that he is hunting with his mentor and pal like they do every year. That makes it a "guys" day. So I thought well, they will hunt half day and then come back and maybe knock down a few beer waiting for the game and watch it together. So I don't communicate at all. It's guy's day, let him have his day in peace. This man is one totally dedicated Duck man.

Meanwhile, I am camped out in my own little room with my own little TV watching the Ducks kick butt. I do not expect any communication whatsoever until that game ends... dedicated Duck men are like that. Right? Well, it made sense in my head. So I look over at my computer and there is an email... in the 3rd quarter. I know the Duck man's address... it's him and I am very surprised. He wants to know if he has upset me and that's why I have not communicated.

So I look at it this way... dedicated Duck man contacts me in the 3rd quarter because I have not contacted him means something... right? If his brain is distracted enough by wondering why I am silent in his kicking Trojan butt game... I am really on his brain. A very good sign. Very cool beans!

Yeah... and it got better. It's time to get out the frogapult and jettison the rest of the frogs. This one is such a keeper. He does not live where Larry did, but it's about the same distance in the same direction... just a different exit. At least I know the freeway in that direction. Though he is coming to get me, I am not driving to him. There is more to this... but you don't get details. Let's say it makes me very happy.

Now what do I do tomorrow? Well... get up at 4:ooAM for starters... and walk as much of my ass off as I can.

There was another nice thing about today. Again, in the market I came across someone I had not seen in a while who raved about how nice I looked and wanted to know what I was doing. When I said, eating healthy and exercise... she was a bit pissy. She doesn't want to have to do those things. I told her... sorry that is what makes it work. There is no magic solution but working at it and taking care. I told her that while I am happy that I am getting into better shape, I am most happy about how good I feel... how much more energy and flexibility I have now. I don't feel near as old as I did before I started all this. She looked as if she did not believe me. Oh well. It was a nice compliment anyway.

So here is a problem... what do I do about the date today? Do I call it off or do I honor my commitment to it? My heart says to call it off... I've got other interests and it is not fair to let this guy think that I am interested or let him spend any of his money on me. So I am thinking that I need to call him and thank him for his interest, but tell him that I have had a change of heart? Do I tell him that I have met someone else? What is the kindest thing to do? What is the responsible and mature thing to do? I'm a bit old to hide and not answer the door bell... which you may recall was a past method of breaking a date when I was young and vain.

This is the problem with having a frog pond. You have to do something with the extra frogs in the end. Crap!

I hate to be the meanie or bad guy. Maybe he will be relieved. He did reschedule. hummmmm..

Quick suggestions... the date is at 1:00p.m. Yikes!

Wish me luck. How is your weekend going?

WELCOME TO THE POND

Frog Song
Frog Song from Liam Lynch's podcast

I thought that was cute since we have been using the frog metaphor. As for the frog pond... it has grown by one more. I know I am supposed to be eliminating and making this easier. But this one is really a great frog so far. Maybe one worth gigging as a keeper. (I know... how can you tell in just one day?) The fact is I don't know much of anything other than these people can type. Well... there are some funny typos. But you know what I mean. It is difficult to tell much when you are looking at words. I have to tell you when I heard one of the frog's croaks... it reduced my interest. He has an odd voice and a worse laugh. I've talked to three. I like rich silky voices... like Suldog's if you've ever listened to his recordings. Think captain Pickard or Sean Connery if you haven't.

But here's the new frog's qualifications... he's into Sci Fi reading as well as movies and tv, into his kids and his grand kids, funny, works with his hands for fun ( has a wood shop) so he's creative, he likes to donate his time to helping others, we've read the same books and authors, he is not particular about traditional gender roles (not Mr. Most-Macho-You-Do-What- I- Tell-You) and he picked the right name out of the hat. You don't understand that last one, but I do. Conversation has been fun and I am looking forward to more. He even offered to teach me how to do something I have always wanted to learn to do... and to do it well. Very cool beans!

Some of you have come up with some fun terms for the frog pond. Here is the glossary.

"Frogpault" for ejecting reject toads. (Thanks to Cube)

"Bull Frogs" who are just giving you a line. (Thanks to dmarks)

"Poison Arrow Frogs" who have toxic personalities! (Thanks to dmarks)

"Bud Wisers" Frogs who just hang in the pond and drink beers all day long. (Thanks to Peggy)

who also gave the line "They should shut their ribbits!" hahahaha

"Croakers" Frogs close to being in line for the Frogpault.

"Toads" Frogs getting/ or already Frogpaulted.

So far we have a couple of Croakers.... seen here in red

Our frogs are: M, D, C, R, D-2 and R-2... the greenest frog right now.

On an unrelated note. Dmarks had a post yesterday that was fantastically fun for me in a very personal way yesterday. If you didn't see it... it's about my friend Patrick Sean O'Neil. The friend that I was googling the day I found my way to dmarks's blog and to the blog world... which has, as I've said, greatly expanded and improved my life. Check it out. Sailor Tom in the Sewer posted by dmarks at Throwawayblog .

Very, very cool beans dmarks!

Have a wonderful day. I promise my posts won't all be about frogs. I don't want to bore you all to death. Yikes! But I'll mention them for sure.

SCRATCHING MY HEAD

When last I left you... I was going out on Friday evening with the Nu-B. Well, that did not happen. Let me say that something came to light that indicated that I simply was NOT going there.

Internet dating is a real crap shoot. When that did not pan out I was relieved that I had not gone... however was still left with the disappointment of having no where to go and no one to hang out with. Crap.

But being me... never say die... I let Miss Bliss take over and get ballsy. Back onto the social network places... the two that I have used and when two new ones
popped up... I thought what the heck, why not do the free trial there too. What can it hurt right?

No, I didn't get hurt. What I now have is a date on Saturday next and four other people communicating with me. Four were from the new sites and the date guy I'd had conversations with prior to this. I have literally been on line with one or another... or on the phone all weekend long! YIKES.
So much for the boredom of Saturday morning.

CAN THE AMAZING MISS BLISS JUGGLE SO MANY AT ONCE?

Miss Bliss c. 1971 could. Ananda is twitching!
The whole idea here is to find one nice man. There are an awful lot of frogs!

Let's hope that one of them turns into a prince.

My average is one normal man to five screwballs, scammers, perverts and what-was-thats so far.

Well, the Book Fair is set up and ready to go in the morning. It took me hours... but the above distractions kept popping up...and I am not complaining. I am dreading the week because of the Book Fair. So much extra crud to do and worry about... like light fingers. But it earns us books for the library and with my budget so sad these days, I need it.
I'm afraid I have to be grateful for it this year.

This one I just really liked. I found it over at Left Coast Rebel's blog. Hope you don't mind that I nabbed it LCR! He had a really nice blog post today about unusual animals.

Hope you all had a happy weekend!
