SATURDAY SCAVENGER SHOTS

(Blogger is frightened by the skull...
and doing weirdness with space again...
so be patient and scroll all the way down past the gaps please.)

Yikes!

It's time for Saturday Scavenger Shots again!
Today's word is "UTENSIL".
The above photo is not mine...
I plucked it from this site:
http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/10/27/giant-skull-made-out.html
What could be
better than...
"
A zygomatic bone glommed together from old sauce pots; a mandible constructed from rusty whisks; a maxilla ossified from dinner plates and moustachioed with unwashed spoons. This gloriously sepulchral skull constructed entirely from old cookware and crockery was on display in London's Regent Park a couple weeks ago as part of the Frieze Art Fair."
to fully illustrate "utensil"?

Of course, I can't think of the word "utensil" without thinking of
barbecue... and with the 4th of July coming up...
barbecue is our plan for the h
oliday.

So how about some
barbecue "utensil" art?
I did not come up with that "utensil" piece.
But it certainly says...
time to barbecue!

Okay... a perfectly terrible shot of the man
barbecuing.
There are some "utensils" there on the right...
if you can see them!

All this talk about "utensils" has made me hung
ry!
I'm thinking
....

Chinese food!

So grab your "ute
nsils"....

aka: chopsticks...
and dig in!

Happy Saturday Scavenger Shots everybody!
(I hope the man will let us get take out.)
;D

And don't forget to use the side bar here to visit
What Fresh Hell Is This?
and
Eclectic Spaghetti
for more SSS and next week's word.
Then go out and take your best shot!

SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT / HONOR

Today's Saturday Scavenger Hunt word is HONOR.

I looked at all the things in my life that I consider an honor to have and be able to do. I decided to focus on my job.

It is an honor to be entrusted with the ability to influence the literacy of students... one I take very seriously.

Where I work we see awards given to honor the outstanding efforts of our students in sports.

Where I work we provide a standard of expectations for students to honor.

We honor our students for academic effort above and beyond the norm.

On another subject:

I am honored to be in the company of wonderful bloggers who allow me to share their lives and give me a venue for expression and creativity. Thank you all for your support, your opinions and your friendships. You improved and add to my life greatly and are much appreciated, always.

TIME / SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT

I CAN'T THINK OF ANY BETTER WAY TO SHOW THE PASSAGE OF TIME THAN TO SHOW HOW ONE OF MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN CHANGED BY TIME'S PASSING.

HAPPY SATURDAY ALL! HOPE YOU ARE HAVING FUN AND FEELING FINE.

WAVE / SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Our word this week is "WAVE" brought to us by the always interesting dmarks at Throwawayblog .

The traditional type of wave... the kind surfers chase as well as toddlers and labs. I actually took that photo!

Or this kind.

I have always been fascinated by the ability of artists to create waves... that must be really hard to make them look right. This painting is on the outside wall of a museum in Newport.

This is a binary wave. Cool beans. And this person's wave is something else!

Happy hunting you all!
This is my last post until Monday.
Enjoy your holiday weekend.
Miss Bliss is.
Oh cool beans!

SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT / YELLOW

OUR SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT WORD TODAY WAS CHOSEN BY AlienCG AT Swamp Gas & Moonlit Reflections

"YELLOW"

Above, a little yellow steamroller.

In Oregon, the color yellow is not the same as it is in California where I grew up. Down there yellow means "caution" and "loading zone". In California, red is the color of fire hydrants and no parking lines on the curbs.

This is the yellow car I'd like to be driving.

Now this is the most traditional idea of yellow that I could find.

It does catch your eye....and it does serve as a warning.

Sort of a modern day yellow brick road...

My favorite of these photos... yellow journalism.
(hee hee)

This yellow reminds me of American Graffitti

I love Swedish Fish... especially the yellow ones!

I guess we will end today with everyone's favorite yellow guy.... Sponge Bob Square Pants!

I hope you all enjoyed today's hunt offerings.

A reminder... there will not be a post on Sunday.
Hopefully I'll be having too much fun. ;)

XANADU / SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT

Our Saturday Scavenger Hunt word for the week is "Xanadu" given to us by No Regrets

Xanadu is supposed to be a place of perfect peace.
I think Xanadu is what these fellows were looking for in that opium pipe.
Maybe you can find your way to Xanadu if you can get through the mists.

Perhaps Xanadu is a thing of perfect beauty... like this little angel.

What if Xanadu is about harmony and balance in nature?

Clearly, I do not personally know what or where Xanadu is. I can only imagine what it might be or represent.

I am prepared to accept most possibilities with but one exception of what I feel that Xanadu is certainly NOT...
anything to do with Olivia Newton John!
Just my personal opinion folks. Feel free to disagree.

If you are looking for a musical version of the word Xanadu, I'd suggest this interpretation by Rush...

You thought you were going to see Olivia Newton John here didn't you! No freaking way!

DIRECTION / SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT

OUR SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT WORD TODAY IS "DIRECTION"

Laws and regulations give us directions for living in society.

Some directions are given for safety purposes.

If you want to use any of these products, be responsible... follow directions and choose ecologically wise products.

Which direction is this truck headed?
East!

These are the silliest directions that I found... How to do the "Triple Swing!" made popular by Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers.

It never would have occurred to me to put bronze foot prints in the concrete to teach someone how to dance.

Here are a tasty set of directions.... yum!

That's all for our Saturday Scavenger Hunt this week. Great Word Tara! Thanks for the fun direction!

Our word today is "SUMMER" and comes to us from laura b. from What Fresh Hell is This? - What a great choice! If you have not visited laura b., well you better go do it. She has lots of fun stuffs there.

What could be more like summer than camping. What a big tent!

Summer is the perfect time for family get-togethers. Did you know I was related to Mr. Clean?

Summer time is the best time to play!

Summer is the time to go to the beach! We found this tide pool area.

Summer is the time for fireworks!

Or how about a summer river cruise?

Summer sunsets are the best!

Summer flowers like this oriental poppy.

Summer is the perfect time for Italian Ices.

What about a summer bike ride?

Thanks for stopping by today. I miss you muggers when you don't!

Hey! Ananda is so twitterpated that she can't even think straight today. I forgot the summer music... yeah, me, the music bitch. Sheesh! So here you go music fans... enjoy, head-bang....DANCE! Summer is made for dancing.

First... my favorite of these... Ataris... Yummy
I really like that in the original the line says "I saw a Dead Head sticker on a..." But this one says "I saw a Black Flag sticker..." Cool beans. Love the blondie!

Going waaaayyyy back to summers past!

Rare clip of The Mamas And The Papas performance on Hullabaloo TV show in early 1966. Song was writen by John Sebastian from The Lovin' Spoonful. In that day, M&Ps also performed "California Dreamin' " and "Nowhere Man".
Leave a comment or rate ) How many of these old foggies can you name... know who the guy is at the end. Here is a hint... everyone loves his dad in France! hahahaha Oh, I do crack myself up. You have to be old to play this game. Sorry young 'ens!
