HAPPY DANCING

Don't you just love those signs?

Hey how was your weekend? What did you do with yours?

I spent mine in sanctuary as usual. Both BBQs were big successes. Everyone… extended family and friends all had a good time. I got there in time to do some work. I managed to clean the patio and make it all spiffy by the time the first party started. But I wasn’t able to get to the lawn until the next day for that party. No matter. In the end, the kids ran around laughing and playing and the adults did pretty much the same thing without the running. There was enough food to feed an army and Randy’s “schloppy burgers” were incredible edibles! I felt very comfortable.

When everyone went home after Saturday’s party, Randy asked me if I would consider moving in with him. I did not expect this. He’s been pretty constant in expressing how much he enjoys living alone and being independent. I sort of wrote it out of the options in my head. I considered it for about a nanosecond and said yes.

There was not much thought required, even if you are not me. I was still on hold with Jack waiting for his family to decide if I was okay enough to take care of their dad. I would be living in the same town as Randy if I was at Jack’s but I’d be working for Jack and not have much time to see Randy. Jack only wanted to give me a couple of evenings off a week. I see Randy more than that now living 200+ miles away. At Jack’s, I would have had a room. In sanctuary, I have a whole house and a great huge yard to play with whenever I want.

So Sunday was a day spent making plans about stuff. Randy would like me to put in an herb garden so that we can use fresh herbs. We picked out a good spot for that and I showed him what I want to do with each of the flower beds and where I want my veggie garden. He’s going to build French boxes for both. We also went over our finances. We made motel reservations and got our tickets for the concerts we will see in August and planned a trip to the Oregon Sea Lion Caves to celebrate the weekend I move in (by going away… how funny!).

Two other plans involve getting a newer used car for me so that I can visit my kids and not worry about breaking down. He doesn’t care much for all the driving I do now… so we are looking. Very cool beans. And another warm fuzzy… it’s time for a baby. A baby brindle pit! She will have a huge yard well fenced and doggie doors to the shop and kitchen and dining room and out back, with baby gates to keep her off the hardwood floors and carpets. She’s going to walk with me everyday.

I think I really did find my prince… and Sanctuary is mine. Big cheesy grin!

  3. good for you!
We still have to get rid of our places and find a place to live. I hope the next two months go by quickly and productively with minimal fights.
Why particularly a brindle pit bull?

  4. Once again, so happy for you (and I told you so ;-) I can feel the positive vibrations radiating off the screen. Haven't been around much lately - busy, busy. No posts or comments for almost a week. Nice to check in and find more good news.

  5. Pamela-- Randy has always had brindle pit females and they were wonderful sweeties. But he lost both of his about 4 years ago. Tessela was 14 and Roxie was only 4 but both died of uterine cancer. He did not want to get another until he was sure that enough time and love would be available to a dog. Between the two of us and me walking everyday anyway, she will get exercise and lots of love.

  7. Cricket-- Hello! I've been terrible about keeping up here of late. That's the life of the twitterpated for you. Yes, you did tell me so! I'm glad you were right. I honestly cannot recall being this happy. All the fear I had about moving vanished. I cannot tell you how very much my life has changed in the last year and a half. I am blessed. I am thankful.

  8. Every time you mention these "schloppy" burgers I slip straight into dreamland.

So, when are you moving in with Randy? Very soon? That herb garden cannot wait!

  9. Mo-- The herb garden will be planted this coming weekend... I hope. Would you have any suggestion as to what herbs would be best?

I have to finish out my school year... it looks like June 10th-ish. My boss is trying to decide how long he wants to keep me.

BUT!!!!! When I left I felt better than usual. My brain shifted a gear in the scheme of things I think. I looked at Randy and said "Hey, this Friday when I come down, I'll be coming home." He agreed. I guess in my head anyway, I already live there.

So I am looking at 7 more weekend trips. UGH!

I could quit now, give 2 weeks notice and still be in good standing. But I'd leave my boss in a bind and he's been very good to me on the issue of leaving early, etc.

  10. wow, a baby brindle pit!

a certain young pit that was near and dear to my heart turned me into an electrician fixing all the electrical cords she chewed through. i think it was lazarus long that said never try to out stubborn a cat. he had it wrong, never try to out stubborn a pit.

  11. billy pilgrim-- I am so excited about the baby pit! I have no doubt that you are correct and Lazarus Long was wrong. Ha. Our basset hounds were chewers too... and loved to dig holes.

  12. That's so great! I was a little wary of the Jack situation. He seemed a little odd and maybe controlling from what you said. This new scenario sounds so much better. I'm really happy for you.

  13. Yay Smiling with you.

I like the synchronicity of it - we have both landed in pretty happy situations.

  14. Sounds like life is very good in Anandaland! My weekend was filled with get togethers of old bandmates and happy birthdays to wives! Yay!

  15. Churlita-- Yes. I was starting to get that feeling too about Jack too and there are two things I do not deal well with... being controlled and being manipulated. I can't stand either.

It's going to be great. In my head at this point, I am here working "out of town". This weekend I am going HOME to scantuary. Isn't home the place where the majority of your underwear live?

  16. secret agent woman-- Yes! Yay! Yay! Yay! For both of us.

  17. Suldog-- Life is great right now. Everywhere I look, people I care for are having happy things happen. What makes my friends glad, makes me pleased. Music mates and birthdays... wahoo! Sounds like it was a fun one.

  18. Well this is certainly good news Ananda girl. So glad to hear this and that you found your prince. My weekend definitely can't compete with this. Good luck with everything and congratulations.

  20. OK, I'm gone a week and I read about a baby? You almost gave me a heart attack. Anyway, I read on and small world... this past weekend, we dogsat my dog-niece, Pumpkin, a 3 year old brindle pit who is a real sweetheart. She always got along great with Elke, our 4 year old German shepherd, but, new to the mix this visit was our new Dobie pup, Maxine. Not to worry, they all got along fabulously.

Dogs aside, it is good to hear that you're settling into a happy situation. I'm really glad for you.

  21. Cube-- I can't help teasing now and then. hee hee

We can't get our "baby" until after June 11th (my last day of work). We are going to replace the fence and I want to be there full time so that she can get the idea that we are a family and so that I can help with puppy issues. :-)

I love the name Pumpkin! I bet that was fun. How big is Maxine now? Is she still wiggly? I love that phase where they get so excited that they can't keep their bodies from wagging too.
