OMSI

FIELD TRIP ALERT!

Well, I must say that I am glad that we have better buses than they do in India for their school children.  Although this trike does remind me of my ancient Hercules three speed from childhood.

Tomorrow our entire school is jamming ourselves into two buses and heading out for OMSI... Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in the heart of the industrial section of Portland.

(My first thought was that if it had been Friday instead of tomrrow that I could have taken off from there to Randy's and been a third of the way there.
Nope.  Wrong day.  Crap.)

This time I get to be with older kids... yay!  I love little ones, but they can be scary on field trips.  They vanish fast and they tend to touch what they should not.
But its hard to get mad at them when they do.

It is my understanding that we will be gone for the entire day... the exhibits we are seeing are at that link above... fun stuffs!  Brain food for everyone.  If nothing else, it will make tomorrow go faster.  I'm into week days flying by if possible these days.  But most field trips give me a migraine.  We shall see.

Another good piece of news is that Randy is taking me to see The Scorpions.  This is supposed to be their last tour if I understand it right.  That's not until August though... but in a way that's kind of cool too.  Long term plans feel kind of nice. ;-)

What is your day looking like?
Any big plans?

  1. What is your day looking like?

Easing along, just easing along. Destroying mother earth is up to the rest of you and you're doing a fine job.

  3. Hope you have a fantastic time on the field trip.

  5. Too bad you aren't taking the kids on a field trip to see the Scorpions. Now that would be fun and educational. Hey, my older (7) has Raw Power and Machine Head on his mp3 player. His request. It could work out well.

Since this is a weekday, my big plans include making it to the end of the day without killing the children (or having them kill each other) and perhaps some laundry. Yay hooray. A beer and some undisturbed reading at day's end would be nice, too.

  7. secret agent woman-- Yay for date! And you know I enjoy mowing lawns in a ridiculously happy way. In fact, if its still sunny when I get to Randy's tomorrow... I think I'll mow his. Thanks for the idea. Sounds great to me.

  9. Cricket-- Its funny. I don't really recall my parent's taste in music having any affect on my taste as it developed. But it had to be there. dabear is a Zep head and yesterday Max was happy because he had gotten the entire discography of Johnny Cash. We don't know what happened to Squeaky... who does not listen to music. We must have somehow broken him.

I too hope for a day in which I kill no child and they don't kill each other. Tonight I'll be packing again. Woot!

  10. Having lived in Oregon, I keep trying to puzzle out where you live currently. It's kinda fun, but really not worth spending too much time on. I never went to Portland when I lived in Eugene, but I loved it when I visited it later.
    Enjoy the field trip!

  12. That sounds like so much fun. I want a field trip.

This weekend should be busy with working on the house but mellow on socializing. And that's a-okay with me.

  13. Pamela-- I currently live on the banks of the Columbia River, 45 miles east of Portland. I can see the sate of Washington from my house across my river. (Did that sound like Sara Palin???)It is one of the most beautiful places on earth and people tell me frequently that I am crazy for wanting to leave it.

I still can't wait to go. Its time.

  14. Suldog-- Doesn't it though? What if that is their long bus?

  15. Churlita-- Its good to have a productive weekend and to pass on the social stuff from time to time.

Sometimes I just want quiet. I hope you enjoy your calm.

  18. I love museums of science anything... I'm just a junkie for all things science... my daughters are ashamed to be seen near me when anything scientific happens because they happen to be teenagers... Personally, I would lurve this.

  19. Cube-- We had a blast! I had 5 4th
grade girls to chase around. We spent most of our time in the space section. I know you would have loved it.

  21. dmarks: I loved Twin Peaks at first, but they jumped the shark quickly. They became weird just for the sake of being weird. I can't even watch the repeats on SYFY.
