I'm hitting the road again. So this is a quickie for the weekend.

I began thinking about the people that I call friend... new and old last night.  I know that I have gone off on this subject in previous posts too.

I have been most fortunate when it comes to friends.  I make them easily.  But tend to glom onto one in particular at a time... keeping hold of the others lightly as well.  As you all know... I have a few here that I have known at least 40 years.  I've known Peggy longer than C4C... but there is no doubt in my mind that it is C4C who has been the keeper of my sanity since 1971.  Yet there is noting that I cannot tell either of them.

This is what I think a friend is... someone who supports you, but also tells you the truth when you try to avoid it.
They laugh with you and cry with you... and sometimes, as in the case with C4C... they just sit there bored as spit with you.

I find the blog community to be very supportive.  No doubt I have bored you a time or two as well.  I do consider the people here who visit to be friends.

I am fortunate that I have so many here and all over the place really.  You all cast light into the dark corners of my demented little mind.  Thank you.

I know about some of your friends... I know for instance the Cube lost her dearest friend.  And Cricket's childhood friend.

But please... my question today, since it is on my mind...
Tell us about a friend experience that you would enjoy sharing.  And take a moment to be grateful for the friends that you have and have had over the years.
I'm feeling that way today.
Big grins to all!

  1. What a nice post. And of course it makes me think about the many friends I've had and have. Here is a friend memory: The first time I met my BBF Milly, I couldn't imagine that we'd have much in common. I will never forget how we bonded over our appreciation of indie music, pop culture, and sarcasm. That was almost 8 years ago and we still have a great time being as cool as we wanna be :-)

  2. what a nice send-off for the weekend.. Hope yours goes nicely.. I have been fortunate to have friends 20 plus years that I share a lot of my insane drama with and vice versa.. My BFF is my rock.. and I her's.. She would be the sister that I always wanted and never had till I met her.. Which we didn't like each other in the beginning.. But here I am 20 yrs later and I can call her the truest friend ! loyal, forgiving, generous to a fault and makes me laugh..

  3. I know that I test your thinker at times but I still like to think that we are friends.

  4. I treasure friendships. I had dinner earlier this week with a friend I met in Lamaze class 16 years ago. Although we don't see each other that often, we always pick up the conversation as if we'd just talked the day before.

  5. I think it's telling how many times the books of Proverbs, Sirach, and Wisdom mention friends.

One thing I will add to my earlier story: In the four years that we were inseparable, I don't recall ever having a fight, or even so much as an argument, with Mickey. Ever.

Have a great weekend, my friend. ;-)

  6. I know that every single memory I have of you is a good one. Isn't that a blessing? I am so very grateful that you and I got reconnected.
Now, go on you crazy kid. You have that great weekend that we're all wishing for you!!

  7. laura b.-- I love sarcasm! That's been a bonding thing with me and a few of my friends. In fact, with the best of them... I didn't think I was going to like them at all. You never know.

    Have a great weekend!

  8. Mrs.HarryWoman-- Isn't if funny how that not liking them at first turns out?

Have a wonderful weekend... enjoy that boy.

  9. Billy B.-- I would not want you any other way. Yes, we are indeed friends and you have been great.

  10. secret agent woman-- I love that about my friends too... the long term ones are always that way for me.

Have a wonderful road trip with your son.

  11. Cricket-- Like wise for Gregory and I. Ha.

I always have a wonderful time in sanctuary. ;-) Always.

  12. Peggy-- Likewise for me! You're the best. Hey... kick me in the ass if I don't email Piper man soon. And if you see Mr.Cool... you know what to do. Ha!

    Enjoy life to the fullest.

  13. So an Irishman walks out of a bar.
    Really, it does happen.

  14. My lotto ticket didn’t hit the big one so there goes my dream of remote acreage.

I did get three numbers so that’ll buy a few more tickets.

I’m eating something. I get weak and disorientated cuz I seldom feel hungry and forget to eat. Or as I’m fond of saying, “Ya have to be a special kind of idiot to forget to eat.” When I get down to about 140 pounds I force myself to eat more cuz it’s not healthy to get to skinny.

Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 97 years old and we don 't know where the hell he is.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

  15. I just put a new post on my Projects blog.

  16. Billy B.-- Hi. I just got home. Haven't checked my blog or email much.

It used to be that I never forgot to eat. Now I often do when I am home. At work, you eat when it's lunch.

    I still love to walk.

  17. All-- I'm home from a terrific weekend... very happy!

I'll post later around 4:00 and get to visit you folk then. Hope your weekend was great too.

    Big grins!

  18. I moved around so much when I was a kid, that I never got to see what happened to any of my friends from that time...Until FB. I've remet some of my old friends from Jr high and it is so cool.

  19. Churlita-- I've found a couple that way too. It's really great to find people you never expected to see again that way.
