NICE

I Woke up with a weekend crash and burn... you know what I mean... where you feel like you could really use another weekend, right now and possibly a bloody mary for breakfast.  I don't know how many times I hit the snooze... which meant that I had to hit the ground running to make it to work on time.  There was not enough coffee in the world today.  Yeah, that kind of Monday where you are at war with the world of well rested cheerful people.

The date however turned out great.  We walked to a nice Mexican food restaurant close by.  Wonderful time for it too... not cold, clear and in a nice area.  I miss the city.  It was a treat.  The food was good and so were the margaritas.  We walked back and settled in to watch Casablanca and some other great old movies.  Lots of funny stories.  There is nothing like laughing to make you feel relaxed and comfortable.  A perfect date.  How often does that happen?  Well not often for me.  I didn't even break anything.  Ha.  (I am a klutz.)

As it turns out, S is an excellent cook as well.  I don't mean that he can make a pot-luck casserole, though no doubt he can.  I mean a skilled cook.  He made a stroganoff from scratch that was so tender that it melted in your mouth and paired it with a delicious Shiraz from Australia.  A very thoughtful man, who provided me with everything I enjoy... like Russian vodka.  I was pampered, spoiled and totally indulged.  I cannot recall feeling so completely sated!  Yikes.  I'd say it was a date that I doubt I will ever forget.  Believe me... I've had dates that I could not wait to forget.

If you are thinking that my weekend could not have gotten any better... wrong.  Squeaky came home to visit too!  The boys got to all be together... Boo and their dad as well.  Great to see them all together and enjoying each other.

All good things come to an end.  Sigh.  That damn alarm clock and reality intruded.  Back to the grind.  But at least I had reason to smile back at the well rested happy people.  I did too... all day long.  I ended my day at work doing something I have not gotten to do it awhile.  I ran out the back door of the library, climbed on the swing and just gloried in the sunshine and warm day.  It felt good to fly.

Big grins everyone.

What did you all do this weekend?

  1. Well, at least you didn't wake to the alarm clock and realize you had dreamt your date. That would make for an even tougher Monday, I'd think.

One of the best "concerts" I ever attended was in a dream. Beach Boys, except dressed casually and Brian was playing an upright bass for most of it. I still remember parts of it. They played all my favorites. Ha. Even and especially, Girl Don't Tell Me with Carl on vocals. Really. I wish I had a video. It was great, I tell you.

    Damned alarm clocks.

  2. Cricket-- Hahaha... that would have put me in an awful mood.

Some dreams are so crystal clear that you wake wondering if you really did that or not.

I wish I could have seen your dream too.

  3. I've never really liked bloody maries, and certainly not for breakfast. But then again, I don't really like tomato juice.

  5. He is four? Time flies.

Sunday I did a practice run to Dallas. I hate Dallas, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. After driving to the place we decided to look at the farmer's market nearby. We bought some overprised stuff, but the tomatoes were really execellent. Getting there was tough, but I managed to drive home without too much trouble.

Later, we went to see Alice in Wonderland. The theater is in the opposite direction of Dallas. I hate Dallas.

  6. Mo--I'm that way about martinies.

It sounds bad... but in the home that I grew up in, we had "breakfast" drinks on special occasions.

  11. Wow, S sounds like a really good guy! Do you plan to see him again? I'm glad you had nice weekend with your boys too. I so seldom see all my kids together nowasdays. It brings me great pleasure when we can wrangle it.

  12. Oh, that sounds wonderful. It's been a couple of years since I had a perfect date. Man, do I miss them. Will you have another one with him?

  13. laura b.-- I suppose that its up to S if he wants to see me again. But we have dated a few times now. I'm certainly willing.

Its always great when my boy-os are all together. Humor runs high.

  14. Churlita-- I don't know. I try not to worry about that part. If I don't expect one, then its nice if it happens... and if it doesn't happen then I don't feel bad.

  15. Sounds great. I had a date last fall like that - everything was thoughtful from the picnic packed to take on the boat to a home cooked dinner to cool mixed drinks by the fire. He wasn't someone saw myself with in a relationship, but I sure enjoyed the date!

  16. secret agent woman-- Its rare to have a date like that. I honestly felt totally spoiled and as you say, thought was put into it. He was a gentleman. I'd have been happy with a fraction of the effort put into it.

I do enjoy his company, but again... if that leads anywhere remains to be seen. And if it did, I'd have to make changes in my plans.

  17. It's nice to be retired and not have the weekend thingy.

I don't much like big cities, I miss my forests and camping but right now I'm trying to get an old rototiller running for a lady and tomorrow Terry is dropping his truck off for me to rebuild the carb, and tune it up so not sure when I'll get away camping again.

Can't go camping over St. Pats day, I gotta color my hair green go be half crazy at the beer church.

It was a good day for me, I manage to make my days lean that way for me.

  20. I'm here late, but I'm glad your weekend was a fun one. Mine was full of cleaning in preparation for company on Sunday. Housework never ends, does it?

  21. Cube-- No it does not end... and the library is very much the same way.
