MONDAY MONDAY

Another nice weekend at Larry's. Sweet. He sleeps during the day, so I treated myself to a quiet lunch alone. I love hot tea.

We had a nice time. The doctor told him that walking would be good for his back, so we took a hike down the road to an old rock quarry... then up a hill so steep that I was panting by the top, down to the little lake and then back the normal way to his house. Nice hike. Got good and sweaty in the sun shine.

We went to a U-pick farm for the stuff to make a wonderful salad and stuffed zucchini for diner (with pilaf and almonds and garlic bread). His daughter Carrie cooked with me. That was fun. She is a sweetheart. Then we watched videos after diner. Before I knew it, it was time to go home again.

Traffic wasn't too bad. I did not get lost even once! Not even on the way there! I could not believe it. Me... not get lost? What was happening in my reality?

Sadly, this was taken on the way home. :(

Puck wasted no time at all in climbing on top of my car... and settling down for a nap. Only he changed his mind as soon as I looked like I might be going anywhere near his food dish.

Everything was the way I left it. I accidentally took this shot as I got out of the car. But I liked it... so here it is. This is the tree that drizzles weird sticky crap on my car all the time and drops leaves year round. It is horribly messy. I've no idea what kind of tree it is, only that I don't like it. But it is a cool picture.

I had a wonderful time. But I was hardly in my car on the way home when the phone calls started. Heavy sigh. It's so nice and quiet at Larry's house. Call one was from Max who wanted a ride from H R home... adding an hour more to my drive in my scary ill car. Call two was from the poker game he was supposed to be at... wanting to know if I'd seen Max. Several calls back and forth getting all that straight.

I'm "Hello...DRIVING!" Not that anyone cares. Then Nick was hungry and had shopping list information. By the time I got home I was exhausted and wishing I was back at Larry's where it is quiet, peaceful and more.

Back to the real world where I have obligations and work. Ugh. Work.

I hope you all had wonderful weekends. I know I have been absent a lot... and that will likely continue off and on. I'll have my sat. scavenger hunt post up in a day or two... late. Oops. But I am tagging Crazy4 Coens on this post... you're IT! for next week.

Ah... Monday morning it was all I hoped it would be...

  1. Is it possible you did get lost, but thought you were ok, then by pure luck it turned out that you got back on route?

  2. It sounds like you had an excellent weekend (until you got in the car). Of course, real life does catch up to you after not-too-long. I do like that song, thanks for sharing.

  3. My cell phone has a really cool feature, it can be turned off. :-)

Can't you cut the tree down? Glad you got to a quite and peaceful place for a while.

Walks is good for Larry, I suppose his back went out after you two met cuz, um, never mind. :-)

Anyway, will hook up the 5th wheel today and load everything for the trip to your town. I still plan on spending the first night out in a Walmart parking lot. :-)

I can make it there in one day but hey, I'm retired and can take my time.

  4. Sounds like your excellent weekend ending on a busy note. I got tired just reading about it ;-)

It rained most of the weekend so we were stuck in the house getting restless. Luckily, there was football on Sunday so we some of our ya-yas yelling at the TV.

P.S. Dinner sounded very yummy. What did you stuff the zucchini with? Just curious.

  5. Mo-- You know it is extremely possible and likely. I never go anywhere without getting lost! Phew! I thought I'd lost some of my mojo. Thanks for giving it back. ;-)

  6. AlienCG-- You are welcome. It's sort of a down in the dumps song, but I've always liked it... even when I'm happy.

  7. Had a good weekend....love to Puck :)))

  8. BBC-- At this point I'm just thrilled that they waited until my visiting time was over.

The tree is not mine. It belongs to the park and she will not let me cut it down because it is too close to the mobile homes and it is huge.

Larry hurt his back when he slipped on the steps. It had been raining. He landed flat across the risers. Yikes! I have never seen anything that bruised, poor guy.

I hope your trip down is relaxing and fun. See you Weds!

  9. Braja-- Puck will appreciate it! Ha. He would not leave me alone all night. He's feeling neglected.

I'm glad you had a happy weekend. Hugs!

  10. Cube-- Stuff zucchinni has a meatloaf stuffing... or you can do a rice stuffing like you might put in stuffed bell peppers. I like meatloaf seasoned with garlic and Italian spice mix. You bake it until the meat is done in the middle, pour off any grease and then cover it in spaghetti sauce and sprinkle some cheese of your choice on top... heat it until the cheese melts and YUM.

Everyone loves it, even kids who do not eat zucchinni. Well everyone but Squeaky, but he hates everything (like Mikey).

I managed to miss football... and baseball. But it seems the Red Sox only win if I don't watch, so they won! Yay!!

  12. Sounds like a great weekend....the fall from grace is always hard, but it is worth it :-)

  13. Aw, Puck is a beautiful cat! They do know how to yawn, don't they? Sometimes it seems like their heads disappear when they yawn like that.

  14. He sleeps during the day? So you went for a walk at Midnight?

  15. laura b.-- You're welcome. Yeah... that coming back to reality is rude, but some of my reality it pretty nice too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tara-- Thanks... Puck is very handsome. A big baby too. You can see by how big they yawn how scary they must look to a rodent... though Puck is so spoiled that he does not think that rodents are "eatable".

  17. Pamela-- Ha! You do ask the most probing questions. I didn't want to wake him too early. He sleeps more than I do. When I get there, we both sort of cat nap around the clock off and on. It's what I do for the most part at home too. So he is up for some of the day light, down for some.

  18. That sounds good. We use different seasonings for stuffed grape leaves than we use for green peppers. They both have a rice & meat mix, but green peppers get additional tomato sauce, garlic and cheese.

  19. It's not my tree either, but I can cut it down, he he he.

  22. Yea! for a wonderful weekend. I don't answer my phone while I'm driving. My kids know that. There's nothing wrong with being just a little inaccessible from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  23. billy pilgrim-- I will. I do not doubt that. Its nice to have someone to visit with for a change and BBC has been very helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Churlita-- Good point. I should not even be answering the stupid phone! I have to un-condition myself. They need to do some problem solving on their own anyway.

  25. billy pilgrim-- You will like tomorrow's song too.
It's been in my head rolling around for days. :-)

  26. BBC-- Hey... I'm an old fart too. how could either of us possibly be boring?

  30. Sebastien-- I would do that if my car worked... drat it all! Thanks for thinking of making sure I have enough to do and then some.
