Monday Maddness asks: What am I doing back here again?

I love clouds like these. They don't even look real. This is what the sky looked like at Larry's Friday afternoon when I arrived. Sorry about the pole.

Nice fall tree.
Okay, I took this because it reminds me of one of JRR Tolkien's paintings of the shire where Bilbo Baggins lived. I will try to get a better shot of it. This one does not show how much of a view you get. To the right a bit, the vista goes on forever. Its really something.

Unfortunately, we did not get to go see the large scale trains that you can ride. It decided to rain and did not clear up until late afternoon on Saturday.
But we did get to sit around the fire pit and enjoy a couple of movies outside that night. I fear those evening are going away quickly.

Well, I got a new C-pap machine. Tonight I give it a test run. We shall see how it goes. (A big thank you to Larry for arranging this.)

We continued our Deadwood marathon... this is taking quite a bit of time. I didn't realize how many episodes I never saw. I'm such an ace that I fall asleep part way and have to watch from the start of the episode again. Sheesh. Hard to believe that anyone could sleep through such creative language. Sadly it is true.

Well I hope all had a great weekend of some sort. I wish you the best for your coming week ahead of us all.

  1. I always think clouds like that look like they've been painted ontot the sky.

A very good week to you, too.

  2. yeesh, here's me catching up again...

yay for bbc doing so much to not only fix your car but help you learn what to do to keep it going for a long time!

fall has fallen hard in these parts too. i got out the flannel sheets a few nights ago since we had a real cold snap. i love the colors of the trees too. that against a blue sky is a little slice of heaven.

and charlie brown xmas trees already? yeesh. aside from the timing being ALL wrong i think that smacks of the commercialism that is skewered in the special itself.

i like your shire picture up there too ;)

  3. I love the "shire" photo, of course it doesn't look quite like the Shire, and I can't see Gandalf or any Hobbits, but it is very pretty!

  5. I'm glad you got a nice weekend instead of a hospital stay.

I'm afraid that most of my weekend was a disappointment. The high point was watching Stargate Universe.

  6. how can you fall asleep whilst watching deadwood?

i've watched it twice in the last year and intend to watch it again. e.b farnum is the best mayor in the history of the world.

  7. secret agent woman-- Me too. I especially like the sky scenes where sun rays break through and look so sureal. Or when clouds are highlighted by an amber glow. I see them and think that's what this painter or that painter saw that inspired them to paint that way. Fun stuff.

  8. lime-- That's okay. I'm catching up today too. Seems to be a common practice.

Yes... Yay! to BBC! He was a ton of help and much appreciated.

I was thinking of how desperately I needed flannel sheets just last night.

That whole commercialism thing drives me bats. It was really hard to be a "poor" mom and keep explaining to my kids why everyone else could afford all that crap... to see those sad little faces, though I think they are well grounded in reality and it will serve them well through the years to know it is possible to survive not having the popular item of the moment.

I have a vivid imagination. I see things in everything. I'll find the painting that this reminded me of and share it if I can legally.

  9. Mo-- Thanks. See the last bit in the above response. You are correct, no Hobbits, darn it! I'd love to know one.

  10. Tara-- Thanks. I saw a tree later that you would have loved. It was so red that it was almost a hot pink. I've never seen one so bright. Perhaps I can capture it next time. I love fall for the colors and its marvelous smells.

  11. laughing-- I really didn't do much more than you, but for me, it was the company that made my weekend. ;-)

RAts! I missed Stargate Universe. I wanted to see that. I'll have to hulu. Glad you reminded me.

  12. billy pilgrim-- I have an amazing ablility to fall asleep anywhere, including standing upright in a line. The folk at the HR DMV can verify this. It has saved me from a great deal of tedium, however has also cost me some valuable moments in time. The C-pap machine is supposed to cure this.

I love Deadwood. I ended where they just had the election. Things have been pretty hot. I was proud of Trixie for shooting that SOB Hurst. Too bad it didn't work out. That Trixie has more moxie than some of those guys eh?

  13. billy pilgrim-- EB is something else! He's not very happy with Bullock right now.

  14. MY WIFE is going in for a sleep study in about a month's time. So, the C-Pap may be in her (our) future. We'll see.

  15. Suldog-- Oh good luck to "MY WIFE" of whom I have become quite fond, for her putting up with your shananagans. Ha!

Oooh... they are so sexy too! Actually its not that bad. Weird a bit, but not too bad. The noise they make is a nice white sound that you both can enjoy. Not to mention that MY WIFE will feel so much better and have tons of energy... which she needs to keep up with you.

  16. Pretty, pretty pictures! It is so hard coming back to the regular working world after such a nice weekend. Yet how wonderful to have that trouble really! Means you have great weekends and a job :-)

  18. The pole in the first pic - does that represent Larry?

As for Hobbits - Boomboom Barry was a bit of a hobbit - would you agree?

  19. I love those gorgeous photos. It sounds like your weekend was wonderful and relaxing. I'm so envious of you and happy for you all at the same time.

  20. laura b.-- Yes, I am really blessed right now and grateful that I have it so good. A year ago I thought my life sucked serious gas... shows you how far you can go in a year.

  21. Crazy4Coens-- Hee hee... sure, why not. The pole... stable, upright, supportive... yeah, that's Larry. (Not to mention the other obvious gleem in your eye!)

Barry Boom-boom... Oh my, certainly a furry hobbit! I wish him well wherever he may be. Fingers crossed there. Little D. F. was a hobbit as well... No?

  22. Churlita-- Thanks. Like I said, a year ago you would never have guess that I would be happy now. Yet here I am... grinning like an idiot 90% of my waking hours. It amazes me even more that anyone could be envious of me when looking back from there. Yikes.

Hope the house thing is going well. I have not yet gotten around to blogs much today. Hope to in the next hour or two. ;-)

  23. AlienCG-- Thanks! I hope that you did too.

  24. Cool clouds. Makes me think of this awesome painting Esao Andrews' just did:

I've never seen Deadwood. Do you recommend it? I'm always looking for good series to watch. Right now I'm watching 2 good comedy series, Arrested Development and the 5th season of the office. But I like all sorts of variety.

  25. Sebastien-- Hello! I will have to look up Esao Andrew's work now. I love those clouds. Thanks for the link!

Yes, I adore Deadwood. It is vulgar and violent! Lots of naked parts and sex too. It has some humor as well, though that is not its forte. At our house we call it the C*** Suc***g Mother F**Ker Show. (I know, we are not quite normal.)

Oh, and the story line is interesting.

  26. Sebastien-- I love Arrested Development. It's like coming home. Jessica Walters does a great impersonation of my grandmother, Gertrude.

    Onion!

  27. Sebastien-- OOOOOOooohhhh! I love Esao Andrew's painting! It is fabulous. Thank you for sharing it. You made my evening. Lingering laughing levitating lion hugs.
