NOT THE BEST PHOTOS OF THE POGUES

Ideed. Not the best photos of the Pogues. Shane was dressed in red... I liked that. I love the color red.

We did have a great time. Found a good place to watch.

You can't tell by these not very good photos... we had a great view of the stage. The music was as expected... fantastic, the crowd was great and very friendly. I had a wonderful time. I hopped and cheered and sang along.

"If I Should Fall from Grace with God" by The Pogues.

Then we went to go home... about two blocks away I hit a metal thing in the street that punctured two of my tires on one side. I managed to get the car parked where it would be okay. We called the Bear and she and cousin J came to rescue us... a round trip for her of about 100 miles.

St.Patrick's Day Live (1988)

We got home around 3:30 a.m. I have not slept since then. I managed to worry StbX until we all made it home safe... including the Bear. Then I informed him that he was coming with me to rescue the car. I'd only had it a couple of hours before this happened. Sheesh. I was not going to lose it to impound.

He was not exactly a happy camper. I do not blame him. It involved putting both cars' spares on it... and it was very chilly and windy early this morning. We went at 6:00 a.m. It took me awhile to find where I had left it. Then he had to drive one car while I drove the other. It was a big pain in the neck. I am grateful that he helped. He could have said no. Sometimes he can still be a hero.

I guess I was so exhausted and over done that I could not sleep no matter how I tried. Eventually I gave up and got up. I missed the morning coffee that I was going to have with my friend, so I visited with him for a very short amount of time before going to take StbX to his meeting. Only that was called off due to exhaustion. He worked all day after that. Yes, I do feel badly about it. I owe him.

One last song to enjoy...

The Pogues - Fiesta

I was too pooped to do much internet today. Please don't be offended if I missed you. I will catch up tomorrow. ;-)

  1. Punched two of the tires on one side? That would mean one of the ones I just bought you. Well, maybe you asked for that, be more careful in the future.

The tire store in Hood River will fix them for free, if they are fixable.

You are an interesting study to me, not that I ever expect you to start listening to me and taking my advice.

  2. Modern American women just drives me fucking nuts. It's no wonder I call them THE INSANE CHICKS SOCIETY (TICS).

But camping helps me keep my sanity.

  3. BBC-- No, not the ones you bought. This was on the car that I had gotten from M P just before the concert... the Geo Prism. We wanted to take it out for a spin. It's tires are not new and not good. They needed to be replaced.

I am taking very good care of my Aspire. I love that car. I'm glad I took this one instead. It was lucky really. I'd have been sick at heart if it had happened to the Aspire with the nice new tires.

  4. Yikes! Bad stuff... good stuff... bad stuff... my neck is starting to hurt from the whiplash. I'm taking a page from the ancient Chinese (not the utterly stupid ChiComs of today) and hope
that things become a little more boring for you for a while. You need a rest from the interesting because it can truly be a curse to live in interesting times.

  5. I am a tired old lady today, had to nap with the turkey. I am still feeling very tired, almost hungover. No more concerts in the middle p-land. My GPS system is all out wack now since I confused so many times last night.UGH!I still love you though.

  6. Cube-- When it rains it pours here. I'm all for the idea of having a boring time for awhile. But it could have been worse... and wasn't. Yay!

  7. thebear-- You are not supposed to be my mommy...I'm supposed to be your mommy. I think I've got it backwards.

Yes, no more concerts for awhile. But I'm going to see K.M.R.I.A. come Christmas at Crystal Ballroom. You'll have to come with me and drive. Until then I'll be the mommy.

I am so sorry that you are this tired. All my fault. I love you to pieces Bear... all the way to the moon and back. Thanks for the rescue. You are the best daughter ever.

  8. I'm sorry to hear about this ideal and am particularly sympathetic about the missed morning coffee, which is awful, I HATE missing my morning coffee.

  9. Well, the first part was great! After all, it's the Pogues.
The tire thing...not so great. Not even something to laugh about. Yet.
I'm with mo.stoneskin on the coffee thing. Missing morning coffee is borderline criminal.
Kudos to The Bear, J, and StbX.
I hope you get a much needed snooze and come back to us soon.
I thought I had it bad with this oink thing but you may have knocked that crown off my head. Temporarily, of course. Good things are coming your way.

  11. Well I hope you got all rested up last night and feeling better. Glad you had a good time at the show and sorry to hear about the bad luck after wards. Take care and get some rest if you have not already.

  12. I suppose if you add it up, all the driving you do for STBX and his meetings is probably comparable. But you're right. That was nice of him.

Most importantly, though...The Pogues?! Kick-a$$! I'm so jealous. I've never seen them live.

  13. Mo-- Worse still, last night my sleep was interrupted to rescue my son's friend... so I overslept this morning and missed my coffee with my friend today too. Do you think he'll trust me to show up tomorrow? Yikes. I need that coffee too.

  14. Peggy- Oink thing? Better send me an email.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm already laughing at it now.

  15. Pamela-- I crashed early by 9:00 but had an hour in the middle of my night that involved getting dressed and going out in freezing weather to rescue a kid. Instant karma. You can never catch up on missing sleep. It's gone. But today I am feeling up and ready for what happens next.

  16. billy pilgrim-- Shane was a superbe performer! He is so lively and expressive. He can move. He was right on. I wish that you had been there to see. You would have been in Pogue heaven.

  17. Mr. Shife Yay! You and the family are returned. I tell you sir, that show was so awesome that the tire incident(seeing as how they were old and crappy ones) was worth the trouble. Today I am feeling great. We'll see about tomorrow but I am thinking it will be great too. Thanks.

  18. Churlita-- The Pogues have been to Portland only once prior to this... and then on a whim performed at a St. Patrick's festival in '95. It was a sell out show and frankly, I cannot recall when I have been more happily entertained. If you ever get the chance... don't pass it up.

  19. Next time get up and drink some coffee so you don't miss coffee with your friend.

  20. dmarks-- Hahahaha... yes a cup of coffee would help me to get going to my coffee friend. I need a new coffee maker. Mine crapped out. Tomorrow come hell or high water (or possible snow in our case) I will get there for my cup.

  21. Jill-- But which rant? About the Pogues? About missing my coffee? About the flats? There's a lot to rant here isn't there?

Hey, I've got no right to one but I am in such a good mood!

  22. thebear-- You are not supposed to be my mommy...I'm supposed to be your mommy. I think I've got it backwards.

Maybe both of you need a parent figure?

  23. Wow...what a lot you had going on. The Pogues show sounds amazing. Also, the positive side of the car thing is getting to see how you can count on your family, even you StbX, in a pinch. Very cool.

  24. laura b.-- My family is much appreciated. I could never again live with the man... but he does step up when I need him to... the situation is unusual and complex... full of guilt. It's a very useful thing.

  25. First Laura, now you with the car problems. I hate cars, they always need to be taken care of. I wish they were simple and sturdy and never needed fixerupping.

I'm happy to hear you had a good time at the concert. That's the bright spot.

  26. Sebastien-- We are slaves to our cars.

I did. I loved it. Best bang for my buck that I've gotten in a long time.
