  1. He is so perfectly creepy in Dexter. It's great.

  2. There's something very creepy going on. Could Lithgow be the antichrist?

  3. Mo-- I think it could be a possibility. He's tricky enough.

  4. Churlita-- He really is. I am amazed at his range with entertainment. I first saw him as the bad guy in The Aventures of a Bonzai Buckeroo... he was great there too.

  5. I can skip the kiddy book, but I'm a long time fan of Lithgow's work dating back to the Buckaroo Banzai days.

  6. Wow, that's some serious synchronicity.

  7. (This all came up because I was playing catch up with my Dexter recordings last night and I began thinking about all the things that John has done.)

  8. Cube-- It is! I was writing my Bonzai Buckaroo statement as you were leaving your Buckeroo Bonzai post.

Naturally for me, I am pulled to the kiddy book because of what I do. He's got a great one called "The remarkable Farkle McBride" that is a real hoot. I bet laura b. knows it. But I can see skipping it if you aren't settled in story land. ;-)

  9. The first time I saw him was in The World According to Garp. Who is that guy? He kept popping up everywhere. When he was on 3rd Rock from the Sun I hated him. My husband pointed out to me that I probably hated him because he was doing such a good acting job. And he was.
He was on Rosie O's talk show back in the day and two guests were complaining about some popular at-the-time politician. J.L. looked at the two guests and said Who needs that guy anyway? End of conversation and the real beginning of my life-long love affair with John Lithgow. Thanks, Ananda.

  11. Wow - I saw that he was going to play a serial killer on Dexter and from the previews it looked like he was great. He certainly knows how to switch from one role to the next! I liked him when he did the voice in Shrek.

  12. I've never watch much TV but I really liked John Lithgow on Third Rock From The Sun back when I did follow that series some.

  13. Peggy-- It's hard for me not to like him. I remember Ramona well and marveling at how much self-confidence he must have had as a man to play that role. (I love John Irving books for all their weirdness!)

He is fun to watch on talk shows. A bright and funny man.

  14. Tara-- Oh thanks for the reminder on Shrek. I'd forgotten that one. I think he must be an interesting person to know in real life. I wonder where he draws his characters and expressions from to transform so completely.

  15. BBC-- I really liked him as Dick on that show too. But I can see where he could drive some folks crazy as that guy.
