Hilarious Horror

Getting into the spirit of AlienCG's "Scare Your Pants Off"theme... I decided to do a list of my favorite funny
horror videos to watch.

Shaun of the Dead [Blu-ray] ~ Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield, and Lucy Davis (Blu-ray - 2009)

Killer Klowns from Outer Space

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Widescreen Edition) ~ Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Richard O'Brien (DVD - 2002)

The Toxic Avenger ~ Andree Maranda, Mitch Cohen, Jennifer Prichard, and Cindy Manion (DVD - 1998)

Bubba Ho-Tep (Limited Collector's Edition) ~ Bruce Campbell, Ossie Davis, Ella Joyce, and Heidi Marnhout (DVD - 2004)

Army of Darkness (Screwhead Edition) [Blu-ray] ~ Bruce Campbell, Embeth Davidtz, Marcus Gilbert, and Ian Abercrombie

Young Frankenstein : Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman

Little Shop of Horrors (Snap Case)

Astro-Zombies ~ Wendell Corey, John Carradine, Tom Pace, and Joan Patrick (DVD - 2000)

Astro Zombies inspired this song by The Misfits

cute video!

But this one below is my all time favorite silly horror show. We watch it every Halloween... a must.

Idle Hands ~ Jessica Alba, Vivica A. Fox, Kyle Gass, and Seth Green (DVD - 1999)

One of these days I'd like to have that beer bottle in the head look for my Halloween costume.

So what is your favorite silly or funny horror flick?
One of these or can you give us a name or more of any others?

Quick Frog Report for Friday

Let's see... Most of the frogs still have a toe in the pond. D is a regular visitor as is R-2 who just keep stacking up the chips in their favor.

Unfortunately, D is more long distance which would require a sustained effort. I've never dealt with that, so I do know how that goes really. He's got a great sense of humor and is nice enough looking for anyone.

C has gone out to kill Bambi. We will see if he returns or not. We only got to talk for a couple of days before he left.

I'm supposed to have a date tomorrow with R-1 who... when we last spoke said he wanted to talk to me again between then and now. That has not happened. I have not had another call yet. So I wonder I will get a call today and the date will happen as planned or maybe he has gone to another pond. I suppose time will tell.

Meanwhile, R-2 is looking to kill Bambi too... by day. He lives near his hunting ground and can be home in time to watch the Ducks play USC (Sat.) or whatever comes on tonight... and talk to me. Next weekend he has asked me to go to the coast... my favorite place on earth. I have no clue what he looks like, but I know his dimentions... NO NOT THAT ONE... and he really has a wonderful phone voice. He's funny and we have geography in common in several places. Our music taste match at the metal end of the scale.

As for J... I have lost touch with him since they closed my free trial on his site. Oh well... there are other frogs in the pond. But he was a lovely man and I did enjoy talking to him. So good bye J... best of luck. I think he might have been a "Peeper" frog... one who was here long enough for a quick look!

  1. billy pilgrim-- Who wouldn't love an Egyptian cowboy zombie!

So now I wonder do you watch Burn Notice?

  2. I loved Sean of the Dead. I love zombie movies in general, though.

I figure with men, if they're interested, they'll make an effort and want to hang out with you. If they, don't then you know they aren't interested and you can move on to a guy who is. Sounds like J. just needs to be traded in for a better frog.

  3. shaun, most def. Went to see it with 2 family members. I laughed. They glared at me. I'll have to check out the others choices.
    Good luck on the lillypad.

  4. Churlita-- I agree. If J was into it, he would have asked for my personal e-dress and gone that route.

I'm not sure I want to trade him for a new one... this juggle thing is not easy for me. I have had a few tricky moments with one on the phone and another online... or two online... popping back and forth.

It leads to questions like... oh shit... which one said that?

I could see getting caught standing in my knickers saying something to one that belonged to the other and then having to do the dance of explanation. Yikes.

I have not told anyone that I am exclusively speaking to just them, but it could get sticky and end up in a frog evacuation with hurt feelings if not handled well. Fact is, I am not good at that sort of thing.

  5. Peggy-- If your family glares at you for Shaun, they are going to glare over all of these.

I am fortunate to be surrounded by nutty males who love this crap. They walk around quoting these movies the way people do poetry... and often for no reason what so ever.

(This is what happens when God let me be a mother. Other parents pass on wonderful skills that serve their children long through life. Me? I pass on zombie mania. Ha.)

  6. I don't care for horror movies, funny or otherwise. Suspense, I like, but not horror. Although of course I went to see Rocky Horror a few times in college.

  7. secret agent woman-- Rocky Horror is more musical than anything I think, which is funny because I don't like musicals generally but I love it. Fun interaction. Unfortunately I took my copy to Larrys and it has not come home. He's probably unaware that I left it. I'm not calling or emailing to get it back. I don't want to seem like a person who can't go away. But darn...!

  8. Great list, AG. I have seen quite a few of these movies, some are better than others and other are just plain awful. Killer Clowns was just...hmmm...what's worse than repugnant? Of course, that level of bad makes it good in other ways. Thanks for participating.

  9. I'm a virgin. I keep thinking that someday I will get an award for being the oldest virgin at the con or party or whatever, but it hasn't happened yet.

Of the rest of the movies you mentioned, I either haven't seen them, or haven't cared for for them. I guess that I like my horror films to be scary, not funny.

Does The Facaulty count? It takes stuff from Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Puppet Masters, and there's a discussion right there in the middle of the movie about which is better, who ripped off whom, etc....

Just saw Pandorum. I kind of liked it, but I don't think anybody else did. I guess you just have to be in the mood for it.

  10. I don't watch horror videos, but whatever. If watching something with a chick I prefer a romantic comedy. Or something light and funny.

Or something about travel to other countries or the discovery channel, or reading what I think is a good book to her. But I guess that's just me.

  11. Zombie, rolls eyes, kids stuff. Even when I was a kid I thought all that crap was weird.

  12. I saw my first (that I can recall) real zombie movie just a few weeks ago. There might have been previous ones so long ago I forgot them.

The friends I hung around with in college happened to have two or three full-blown Rocky Horror fans with costumes and all, and I ended up going to Ann Arbor to the theatre with them a couple of times.

  13. My daughter and I watched the end of Blood of the Vampire this morning and laughed ourselves silly making fun of Carl. The make up was so ridiculous.

  14. AlienCG-- You are correct about the clowns... they are so awful we laugh through it. Kind of like how I get hysterical over the way the friend who becomes a zombie in American Werewolf in London's face starts falling off in bloblettes.
What can I say... I'm partially demented. ;-)

  15. I have not seen Pandorum... but will check it out. I love horror in all's its aspects.

There really should be an award for being the oldest virgin.

Sure... The Faculty would count. Anything that awful is funny to me. It's one of those that I watch and keep asking myself why I'm not changing the channel, but it compels me to stay tuned... as if it might be better this time.

  16. BBC-- That's okay. To each his own. I watch those things too... often.

I could not avoid horror if I wanted to... and I do like it, so that would not happen... my boys are into it and I watch what they watch.

  17. dmarks-- Rocky Horror is sort of in a class all by itself. I love watching Tim do his thing. I used to believe that it was Tim's character in it that Freddy Mercury used to base his stage presence on back in Killer Queen Or Ogre Battle days.

  18. Cube-- Don't you love stuff that is so corny? Astro Zombies falls into that one. So does Plan 9. Ed Wood movies tear me up laughing.

  19. I'll tell you what is scary, reality.

  20. What a great list...I like my horror funny, much more than straight up. And I LOVE Rocky Horror Picture Show. *sigh*

Sounds like those frogs are keeping you hopping :-)

  21. laura b.-- Thanks. Yes... the frogs are. I lost M for a few days and now he's back with renewed vigor... full of bull froggie-ness. ha. But it's been fun to read. I laugh a lot. Is that wrong?

  22. Great recs, one of my favorite movies is Shaun of the Dead! I'm going to netflix some of these other ones, interested in Bubba-HoTep

  23. Sebastien-- Bubba-Ho-Tep is a hoot and a half! You will enjoy it.

As for Shaun of the Dead... I'd love to have a zombie I could chain in my kitchen to do dishes. The rest of the time he could play video games and gnaw on bones. It would be a nice life for a mild zombie.
