MIKE'S MUFFLERS AND MORE

Last night was the night that I do my chauffeur thing and go to the town on the left while StbX does his meetings. I generally end up sitting in the car for a long time waiting for the meetings to end.

Last night I was restless, so went for a drive. This is what I found! This guy... Mike, I presume, makes these great folk and animals out of car parts. Yes, they are all for sale. I'd love to have one.

This one reminds me of Pink Floyd's Pigs.

Pink Floyd - Pigs

If you are a Floyd fan... by all means give it a listen. I love Pink Floyd. My favorite one is actually Pink Floyd-Brain Damage/Eclipse

"Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs. Got to keep the loonies on the path."

Here are some fun animals... which of course remind me of Eric Burden and the Animals.
Yes sir that is going way, way back to when I was a kid. Yeah, I really was one once...
Animals Please Don't let me be Misunderstood.

ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) - Last Train To London

This one calls to mind the above song. I know these are oldies, but good chunks of musical history. ELO was considered to be a possible replacement for the Beatles. Can you imagine?

Okay... time for some Primus. Yes, the crazy old bat loves Primus. What can I say? I like what I like. If you don't it's okay.
Primus - "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver" (Live - 2004)

"Jerry was a race car driver
22 years old . Had too many cold beers one night...And wrapped himself around a telephone pole."

I was glad to get home last night. Good old Snatch was on the tube and that is a great movie. "Do you like dags? I like dags!"Snatch Greatest Quotes

Once home I didn't do much but text Annie and watch Snatch at the same time. Took StbX home, went to bed and here I am. Its time for the new day. I hope that yours is a better day than yesterday.

I never did get to go fishing yesterday. Stuff just kept coming up. Today I'm mowing the lawn before I do anything. I like to mow but every 6 or 7 years it gives me an asthma attack that lands me in the hospital. Sort of exciting... will this be the attack or not? Don't worry... I've gotten smarter. I wear a mask and I carry my inhaler. I'm set and I'm safe. Big grins to all.

Because all these things photographed are made from car parts... The Cars await below!

  1. Your music taste seems as eclectic as mine. I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan. Animals is one of my favorite Floyd albums.

I like all of the songs you posted in here. It's a pretty eclectic collection of songs that reminds me of my own music collection. Thanks for sharing.

  2. aliencg--If I was knew that I was going to be stranded somewhere for ten years and I could only take ten artist's music with me... Pink Floyd would be the second pile of CDs that I'd grab... Dropkick Murphys being the first without question.

Hey that sounds like a good post! I think we just came up with tomorrow's post, aliencg. Cool beans!

Yes, I am about as eclectic as you can get musically. It's great to find a kindred spirit in the music vein.

  4. NoRegrets--There are two of those pigs! They are so cute.

I could see Mike (or someone I assume was Mike) watching me photograph them from a window. When I got to the pigs, he started laughing. Pigs make us feel good don't they?

Hey...Mike's number is in the photo. Just put a 541 in front of it and BINGO... pig!

  5. dmarks-- I do too. I have a signed John Duffy sculpture that my parents bought years ago when I still wore sun-suits to play in on the Carmel beach where we bought it. Its of a marching band and made up of nuts, bolts, etc. The band marches across a hunk of railroad rail.

When my mother passed away, all the art came to me. They wanted me to be an artist but I was too scared to fail. I blew off my scholarship to art school... and the opportunity to apprentice to a woman who was living in Yosemite National Park while casting a set of bronze statues that still stand there. A HUGE regret for me.

  8. Wow. There is a lot to digest here. But the one thing that really stands out to me is that I was "Snatch" last night as well. Coincidence? I think not.

  9. Mr. Shife-- Great minds with fantastic taste is what pops into my head. Ha.

Hey have you ever thought about lurking on your own blog and waiting to catch someone posting? If only there was a way to jump out at them, but there isn't. Not that I can figure out anyway.

Now that you've given Quincy a good stritch... kiss that baby for me! And say hello to the Mrs. Big grins.

  10. Mikey looks like a creative guy. I hope, unlike his namesake from the Life cereal commercials, he doesn't eat everything. I'd hate to have him start with that pretty pig ;-)

The pig was my favorite. I went to a Pink Floyd concert and they had a giant pig balloon flying above the stadium and a bed on a wire that slid across the sky. It was something else.

The other stuff makes me think of Optimus Prime and the other Transformers. Funny you mentioned Primus.

Amd don't forget to keep your epi pen with you when you mow.

  11. Cube-- Thanks for the reminder on the epi pen! It's in the glove box of my car. Sheesh.

I also went to a Pink Floyd concert and it was beyond a doubt one of the best I've ever seen for showmanship!

Ha... Optimus Prime was a great Transformer wasn't he? Bumble Bee was my favorite. Yeah, they are a bit like transformers. Maybe that was what caused the trip in my brain to jump to Primus. Funny the connections we make.

  12. Loved all of your song references. It's great that you love Primus. I dated a guy who's band opened for Primus. Les Claypool's wife is from here, so he's been known to be in our town sometimes.

And texting while watching a movie? You are so in high school. That's awesome!

  13. Churlita-- Oh how cool is that! Les Claypool is a hero of mine. So you not only got my Vonnegut, you get Les too. I am greeeeeen with envy. That man has some interesting thought waves. I get a real kick out of him.

I know... I don't think I will ever grow up. I love that about me. ha.

  14. I always love visiting your blog because of all the cool links you include! Well, that is not the only reason, but it is surely fun here :-)

  15. laura b.--Thanks! I have a great time finding stuff. I know I am awful about it... I'd research for a living if I couldn't work in a library. I even thought of working for a law firm for a time so that I could comb law books for defense purposes.

Hey... can you tell I have no life? lol

I'm glad that you have fun here. It's what I want.

  16. I especially like that calf. But I have to skip the music links - my son carried the computer speakers off to camp with his laptop!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Citizen-- Hey, mine does that too! He keeps saying that he's going to put in a sound card for me and doesn't get around to it. (His father's son for sure!) Then he takes my speakers whenever he needs them... with permission of course, but geezzzz...

    Great to see ya!

  18. hey teacher, leave those kids alone!

  19. billy-- How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat!

    Big fecking grin!

  20. I love Snatch - we quote it all the time around here. I 'ate pikeys (and I really do). (Except when I get to know them on a one on one basis and they are not trying to kill my dad).
