WELCOME TO THE POND

Frog Song
Frog Song from Liam Lynch's podcast

I thought that was cute since we have been using the frog metaphor. As for the frog pond... it has grown by one more. I know I am supposed to be eliminating and making this easier. But this one is really a great frog so far. Maybe one worth gigging as a keeper. (I know... how can you tell in just one day?) The fact is I don't know much of anything other than these people can type. Well... there are some funny typos. But you know what I mean. It is difficult to tell much when you are looking at words. I have to tell you when I heard one of the frog's croaks... it reduced my interest. He has an odd voice and a worse laugh. I've talked to three. I like rich silky voices... like Suldog's if you've ever listened to his recordings. Think captain Pickard or Sean Connery if you haven't.

But here's the new frog's qualifications... he's into Sci Fi reading as well as movies and tv, into his kids and his grand kids, funny, works with his hands for fun ( has a wood shop) so he's creative, he likes to donate his time to helping others, we've read the same books and authors, he is not particular about traditional gender roles (not Mr. Most-Macho-You-Do-What- I- Tell-You) and he picked the right name out of the hat. You don't understand that last one, but I do. Conversation has been fun and I am looking forward to more. He even offered to teach me how to do something I have always wanted to learn to do... and to do it well. Very cool beans!

Some of you have come up with some fun terms for the frog pond. Here is the glossary.

"Frogpault" for ejecting reject toads. (Thanks to Cube)

"Bull Frogs" who are just giving you a line. (Thanks to dmarks)

"Poison Arrow Frogs" who have toxic personalities! (Thanks to dmarks)

"Bud Wisers" Frogs who just hang in the pond and drink beers all day long. (Thanks to Peggy)

who also gave the line "They should shut their ribbits!" hahahaha

"Croakers" Frogs close to being in line for the Frogpault.

"Toads" Frogs getting/ or already Frogpaulted.

So far we have a couple of Croakers.... seen here in red

Our frogs are: M, D, C, R, D-2 and R-2... the greenest frog right now.

On an unrelated note. Dmarks had a post yesterday that was fantastically fun for me in a very personal way yesterday. If you didn't see it... it's about my friend Patrick Sean O'Neil. The friend that I was googling the day I found my way to dmarks's blog and to the blog world... which has, as I've said, greatly expanded and improved my life. Check it out. Sailor Tom in the Sewer posted by dmarks at Throwawayblog .

Very, very cool beans dmarks!

Have a wonderful day. I promise my posts won't all be about frogs. I don't want to bore you all to death. Yikes! But I'll mention them for sure.

  1. Hmm... how about warts?
Well, good for you for jumping into the pond! You should post the Peter Gabriel song (jump in the water, come on baby jump in with me... kiss the frog)

  2. Pamela-- Fabulous idea for a song! Look for it tomorrow.

"Warts" is great too... we'll use it for traits that I'm not that thrilled with... like the funny voice and laugh. That would be 2 warts. hahahaha Cool beans Pamela. Thanks!

  3. Love Liam Lynch :-) You are a toadly excellent frog collector! Please, keep the stories coming. I wouldn't want to miss a minute of your great adventure. R-2 sounds like he has some very appealing qualities.

  4. I don't mean to quibble, but it was frogapult that I wrote. Don't you think that has a better ring to it?

Maybe you're just more partial to trebuchets and we could call it a ribbuchet?

    ReplyDelete
  5. laura b.-- I will. I can't seem to keep myself from blabbing away but I'll try to keep it under the nausium level. ;-)

Yeah... I'm liking his lack of warts.

  6. Cube-- Oops! My bad... Frogapult. hahaha I am very fond of trebuchets and guillotines for that matter. Love the name Ribbuchet too. The French have such a marvousloud way with removing things. Such panache! But I will keep Frogapult. I like it. Thanks for the correction.

  7. And I actually wrote rubbit because he was a horny toad. And old joke, sis, but I like to pull your leg.

    ReplyDelete
  8. i'd be careful if the new frog looks like ray milland.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Peggy-- It would never be the same if you didn't pull my leg... horny toad... yes ma'am! hahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  10. billy pilgrim-- Ray Milland has been scaring the crap out of me as long as I've been watching Hitchcock. He's always killing someone. To be on the safe side I suppose I should not make R-2 (or anyone other than thebear) a beneficiary of my will.

  11. It sounds like you're having so much fun at the pond. That's great. I hope you find the best frog for you. If you start dating younger men, will they be called tadpoles?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Churlita-- Hahahaha... I like that. Yes, we can call them tadpoles and there are 2 but not much younger.

I am having a ball here. I have not had this much attention in god knows how long. Obviously it cannot last long and may get sticky at some point. But for now... "cruise, it's cool".

  13. C4C-- Hahahaha... I knew that would get. Did you go to Throwawayblog yet? That face! As soon as I saw it I flashed on the airport and our being wrapped up in the flag and getting followed out of the airport by security. Ananda days...you becha!

  14. ananda - so what is it you are going to learn to do well?

    ReplyDelete
  15. you do so many things well already!

  16. You sure are big on song themes, and you sure are an interesting study, ha ha ha.

Raining here and 44.8 degrees, I got chilled this morning and have been chilled all day even though I have the heat up to 75 degrees.

I can't say much about the post, hell, I didn't even understand it, ha ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  17. C4C-- You'll see a video when I learn. Well thanks for the compliment. There are a few things I do well. And oh my gosh... honey this frog keeps getting better! He's hardly amphibian at all anymore.

  18. BBC-- Yes, I love music... its everywhere in my life. There is very little that I do not associate with music.

I'm glad you've got that heater now. It's getting cold fast. You aren't getting sick are you? Get plenty of rest BBC... the flu is nasty this year.

It's okay if you don't get the post. Its mostly silly and just for fun. You've got your monkeys and I've got my frogs and toads. ;-)

  19. I don't listen to much music, it drowns out the many other interesting things in my head and I'm more interested in them. But I note with interest that many monkeys are deep into music to keep those other things at bay so they don't have to deal with them. Something like that anyway.

It's not that I don't like music, I just don't use it to drown out other things, I just listen to it when I want to.

When I met Laurel (the three brain celled kids mother) she had a radio going 24/7, I put an end to that, there was life to deal with out there.

  20. BBC-- I don't find music distracting. I find it an enhancement of the things around me. It makes dull things fun and relaxes me when I am tense or comforts me when I am sad. Mostly I just love the way it sounds.

  21. Can you work in "frogs in a blender" sometime?

Glad you liked the new Sailor Tom post. When I posted the first one last year (the one you found in your search), I had originally planned to post all of the Sailor Tom cartoons I have. Now, especially since I have permission from Patrick, I will make sure to continue with that.

    Does R-2 have a gold-plated sidekick?

    ReplyDelete
  22. And how about the category of "Kermits"? The frogs that are great with the kids.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think you're wise to keep frogapult. It is definitely the superior term.

    ReplyDelete
  24. dmarks-- I could not believe it when you had that article about Patrick and there he was. What a trip! He looks like such a kid there and we thought we were so grown up. hahahaha

I think the toad I frogapulted could easily have made it into the Frog in a Blender catagory! Yikes.

As for does he have a gold-plated side kick... I don't know, I haven't seen that part yet. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. dmarks-- Yes, some of them are Kermits including R-2 (with or without a gold-plated
    C P 3 OH!)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cube-- Yes, I like the original thought best too!

    ReplyDelete
  27. ALL-- Today is the end of the book fair which includes a book carnival with the kids all dressed up like book characters. I will not make it up with a different post probably. So please feel free to get as snarky as you want here... or whatever fun you can make... or wander off. There will be a nice one tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  28. well glad there seems to be potential in one of the forg suitors.

    ReplyDelete
  29. lime-- Me too! I'm really getting excited about this one. I'll keep everyone posted.

  30. Hmmm, how about a crazy ass fire-breathing frog with teeth? he bites you and destroys everything in his path. He will be the frog that causes drama and sews disharmony where ever he goes. He is fun while he is in a good mood but if he's in a bad mood, watch out!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sebastien-- Yes! Those frogs to exist! What shall we call him then? I'll have to think on a name...

    Anyone have a suggestion?

    ReplyDelete
  32. dmarks-- Haha... I should have guessed that one. Frogzilla it is!

    ReplyDelete
  33. You make me blush! Captain Pickard or Sean Connery! Two of my own favorite voices, so very high praise and much appreciated. Thanks.

But, please give the fellows without such a great voice a chance. My voice is just a gift from God. I did nothing to deserve it and precious little to deserve still having it. We all have great gifts; some are just not as easily seen (or heard!)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Suldog-- I hear and agree to that.

But I would be a liar if I did not admit that a resonant voice was a plus. It is... like hazel eyes or nice strong hands. Or a great sense of humor and calm temperament.

Believe me, I am not a perfect person and I am the last person to expect perfection in anyone else. You have to accept that you can't get the package without the styrofoam peanuts so to speak. ;-)
