XANADU / SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT

Our Saturday Scavenger Hunt word for the week is "Xanadu" given to us by No Regrets

Xanadu is supposed to be a place of perfect peace.
I think Xanadu is what these fellows were looking for in that opium pipe.
Maybe you can find your way to Xanadu if you can get through the mists.

Perhaps Xanadu is a thing of perfect beauty... like this little angel.

What if Xanadu is about harmony and balance in nature?

Clearly, I do not personally know what or where Xanadu is. I can only imagine what it might be or represent.

I am prepared to accept most possibilities with but one exception of what I feel that Xanadu is certainly NOT...
anything to do with Olivia Newton John!
Just my personal opinion folks. Feel free to disagree.

If you are looking for a musical version of the word Xanadu, I'd suggest this interpretation by Rush...

You thought you were going to see Olivia Newton John here didn't you! No freaking way!

  1. First of all, thank you for putting up an ONJ video. These are all perfect examples of XANADU. Thanks for sharing with us.

  2. Love it! You covered a lot of territory!

And you added Rush! Hold See loves Rush. He's been to at least 3 of their concerts. BTW - they have aged well - I think they look better now than they did then (you SURE can't say that about me, though!).

Thank you soooo much for no Olivia Newton John! What was her draw anyway? The high thin tinny voice? No I am sure it was her body and Grease. Anyway - thanks for not sharing her.

    Have a GREAT date day!

  5. Crazy4coens-- You are welcome for the no ONJ!!!
Her voice has the effect of nails on chalkboard. Others are free to like her if they can. I honestly cannot stand her voice.

  6. Cube-- I'd certainly rather be watching Citizen Kane than Xanadu!

  7. Great examples of Xanadu. I LOVE Rush too...but I am going to admit to a soft spot in my heart for ONJ and that particular movie. I think they evoke a sweet innocence that is sort of touching in some way. But I am soft like that :-) A really fun post, Ananda.

    A stately pleasure-dome decree

  15. Sebastien! Yay! Yes it is one of my very favorite paintings by N.C. Wyeth. He illustrated my childhood. I have the most marvelous story books for children that he illustrated and they are an absolute delight for the eyes.

He and Maxfield Parish are my idols. Would only that I could create just bliss on paper!

Of course, none can touch MY Lion, my prize. :)
